A Bishop responds to President Biden

a Cardinal and the Pope comment on the protests in Sri Lanka

And what about some bluegrass music

I’m Kyle Heimann, and this is the Daily Refill

So President Biden signed an Executive order to allow abortion in an effort to counter the recent supreme court decision

Archbishop William Lori issued a statement and in it he said:

“Rather than using the power of the executive branch to increase support and care to mothers and babies, the president’s executive order seeks only to facilitate the destruction of defenseless, voiceless human beings.”

He also said, “As always, th e Catholic Church stands ready to work with this Administration and all elected officials to protect the right to life of every human being and to ensure that pregnant and parenting mothers are fully supported in the care of their children before and after birth.”

There are 22 million people in Sri Lanka dealing with food, medicine and fuel shortages. Protestors blamed the leadership for inflation and government debt.

I know, you are thinking, we have inflation in the US - but Sri Lanka had 54.6% inflation in June

The Catholic church has been instrumental in providing for those hurting most from the financial crisis, especially through the organization “Caritas.” Cardinal Ranjith from Colombo expressed his hope that leadership will in-fact resign, recognizing that it will be a struggle moving forward.

On this issue, Pope Francis said, “Together with the bishops of the country, I renew my appeal for peace and implore those with authority not to ignore the cry of the poor and the needs of the people.”

And if you’re looking for some bluegrass talking about whisky and moonpies made by some Dominican Friars, check out The Hillbilly Thomists - newly released album: Holy Ghost Power
